The 2016 Olympic games held its opening ceremony at Rio de Janeiro's famed Maracana stadium over the weekend. This marks the first time that the world's sporting event is held in South America where over 206 countries will be competing for Olympic gold.

The Olympic torch, carried through parts of the city by supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, was finally handed over to former marathon runner Vanderlei Cordeiro de Lima who lit up the cauldron. Following that, the festivities began including a show-stopping segment when Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen walked out onto the stage in an homage to the city. Then, delegates from the different participating countries walked onto the main arena, including the contingent from KSA, UAE, USA and Canada — who were dressed in DSquared2.
