Twitter is largely a force for good, or at least, fun, but its relative anonymity has allowed a cowardly community of cyber-bullies and trolls to fester and grow. The social media giant has been repeatedly asked what they are doing to tackle this online abuse, and their newest response is this – the quality filter.

The new feature will allow verified users to weed out offensive tweets from their feeds and notifications. The first wave of feature testing is being used on verified users on the iOS platform, statistically the highest number of high-profile users, who are the most vulnerable to trolls, use the Apple platform. If successful it could experience a wider reach and hopefully shut down the online bullying underground.
