Hermès entertains guests at the Saut Hermès au Grand Palais 2014
Show jumping, Hermès–style
Luxury fashion house Hermès put on a spectacular show at the Grand Palais, where it hosted the Saut Hermès 2014 competition featuring top show jumpers from all over the world.
Aside from the contest itself, guests attending the prestigious event, which has proved its credentials in the sporting industry, by being given a CSI 5* status by the FEI (Fédération Équestre Internationale), were treated to other equestrian-themed activities such as watching the production of a horse saddle, as well as the opportunity to explore an extensive library filled with horse books.
The horse has been at the heart of the craft offering from Hermès since the company was founded in 1837 by saddle and harness-maker Thierry Hermès. As the company developed, its creations evolved into a full range of equestrian offerings. Many of the pieces are featured in the private Hermès museum – which many contemporary designers source inspiration from to this day. Not long ago, Pierre Hardy, who designs for his own label and Hermès, created a whip-shaped diamond necklace and pieces with horse hooves.
