As New Yorkers grumble about the "below average" temperatures, extreme cold and snowy conditions that have hit the north east of the USA recently, a local CBS broadcasting team took to the icy skies to capture on film, this urban-arctic cityscape. 

The Hudson River has become an icy moat surrounding a frozen Manhattan Island. The city's water transport has had to receive support from tug boats to break up the ice and help keep the city moving. Even in these condition, tough New Yorkers won't be hibernating, it's the city that never sleeps and it's not about to start now...
