Dubai is set to become home of the first desert rainforest as part of the extensive Vista Lux retail space. With one million square feet to build on, Demac developers have designed a unique experience, which will include a waterway, a rainforest dome with a zip wire, an open air organic market and fountains and an outdoor performance area, set amongst the residential area of the new Akoya Oxygen development.

Vista Lux will be a new cultural hub for the Emirate focussing on performances and art displays as well as more intimate community skewed space called 'The Green,' which will host poetry readings and small scale theatre productions. In other 'green' news, the on-site organic farmers market, which will sell fresh produce, will also stock the V restaurant, where visitors can enjoy a fresh menu of delicious fare made from local organic ingredients. Adding to the community vibe will be a coffee house and library located next to an outdoor public art installation area.

"Vista Lux will house more than 2,000 hotel apartments and residences allowing visitors to the Dubai Rainforest, or those looking to challenge themselves at the Tiger Woods-designed Trump World Golf Club, Dubai to have an all-encompassing, holistic experience during their visit to Akoya Oxygen," said Ziad El Chaar, MD of Damac Properties, who are in charge of the development.

The big draw will be the rainforest, which will be housed in a dome structure where the rainforest climate can be replicated. Visitors will be able to climb into the canopy and fly through the treetops above the thick jungle on a zip wire for the ultimate bird's eye view. And if climbing trees and flying through the air doesn't appeal there is a rainforest spa area with hydrothermal treatments and rock pools, for some tropical relaxation.
