Following the news that Expedia and Arch Daily have declared Nakheel's Palm Jumeirah a 'must-see wonder', another UAE architectural icon is receiving global attention – this time, the world's tallest tower, the Burj Khalifa.

According to new research, the Burj Khalifa is the third most popular place to take a 'selfie' worldwide – beating other global icons including London's Big Ben and Australia's Sydney Opera House.

A new study lead by AttractionTix.co.uk analysed the locations featured in Instagram selfies and the UAE icon came in third. The Eiffel Tower in Paris topped the list, with Florida's Disney World coming in second.

At just five-years-old, Dubai's relatively new icon beat many other older buildings and icons including Barcelona's Sagrada Familia, Rome's Colosseum, London's Buckingham Palace and New York's Statue of Liberty.
