The 20 finalists for the San Pellegrino Young Chef 2015 competition, have each been paired with a designer, specially selected by Vogue Italia. The coupled up creative pairs are facing the final days of voting before the finalist is revealed.

Here we shine a light on the only designer selected from the Middle East in the competition, Saudi born, Ashi Studio, who has been paired with chef Angelo Scirocco.

Ashi's demure and elegant design has been named 'The Spirit of Kodama' and is directly informed by Scirocco's sweet dish. Dubbing white "the new black" the layered and voluminous sketches express in fabric what the delectable dish's ingredients express on the plate: a sheer vail sits on top as an embodiment of the sugar topping, and underneath, Ashi's area of genius – embroidery – brings to life the leaf motif with a leafy shimmering pattern, which is applied to the top of the dish. Ashi has worked the fabric layers into a rounded shape to capture the soft lines that appear on the plate. We can't decide which looks more delicious.
