Visitors to the French Alpine resort of Courcheval could stand a chance of spending the night in the ultimate ski hang-out, literally by hanging in a cable car 9,000ft above sea level, for a night. Airbnb is offering this unique opportunity to stay in the repurposed and refurnished, Saulire gondola.

The evening will begin with a three course meal, served in the cabin, as it hangs suspended above the mountains, offering stunning panoramas of the snow covered Les Trois Vallées (the three valleys). After dinner the cable car will scoot up to its station at the top of the mountain, where guests will bed down for the night.

For vertigo sufferers, this is the stuff that nightmares are made of, but if the heights don't bother you, you can wake up to the unprecedented honour of being the first to carve out the fresh powder on the piste before anyone else down below has even had a chance to wriggle into their salopettes.

For a chance to win this unique experience, which is part of the Airbnb 'A Night At' initiative, applicants can explain in 100 words, why they deserve to win the experience. Applications are on the Airbnb Website. This brings a whole new meaning to the phrase 'power nap'.
