eet Carol Sukkar, the owner of Dubai's newest luxury interiors store, Blanc D'ivoire Dubai. Born and raised in Jordan, Carol's love for interiors started at an early age. Her passion for travel lead her to France where she discovered the world of Parisian style. Blanc D'ivoire has been a respected name in France for many years as one of the region's leading interior design companies. Carol saw an opportunity to combine the Blanc D'ivoire style with hers and bring it to the Middle East. The newly opened store in Jumeriah, Dubai is filled with the essence of elegance. Here Buro 24/7 Middle East gets to know a little bit more about the woman behind the brand...

How did growing up in Jordan influence your love for interiors?

I grew up surrounded by interiors and home showrooms. Actually I worked with my father from a young age in his home store in Jordan so I have a great understanding of furniture merchandise.

Was there a specific moment in your life when you knew you wanted to own your own interiors store?

I've always had an interest in interiors and I love to travel often in search of new exciting brands and designs; Maison et Object in Paris is one of my favourites! These trips and my background knowledge helped me to open my first home store this year. We fell in love with Blanc D'ivoire & Riviera Maison the first time we set our eyes on it and had to bring these beautiful collections to the region.

Why was Dubai the chosen city for a Blanc D'ivoire store?

Dubai is the perfect place to introduce Blanc D'ivoire and Riviera Maison. Interior design is very big here and customers always love to update their homes with new items and designs. We found there was a gap in the market for a store like ours, we offer an array of premium furniture made from premium quality and unique materials with exquisite details and finishes but we still remain at an affordable price.

There is something from BLANC D'IVOIRE DUBAI for everyone!

Do you think France and the Middle East have any similarities when it comes to décor and style?

Yes, Arabs these days are looking for international modern and shabby chic style. It really is the perfect match.

What does traveling the world mean to you?

I find if I'm stuck in one city or place for too long then my inspiration becomes rather fatigued. I love to explore to find new exciting designs.

Travelling allows a sense of freedom and adventure.

Where is the most inspiring place you've traveled to?

Paris, France. It's the perfect city to gain lots of inspiration and new ideas! It has so much history and it's  a beautiful place to visit.

What do you look for when sourcing new brands?

I look for quality, this is very important when it comes to interiors as customers buy homeware as investment pieces — for example, a sofa, is not just purchased for the season. I also look at how the brand can be used in multiple homes and styles. I love soft colour hues and items that are space efficient.

How do you know when a designer is right for Blanc D'ivoire Dubai?

I'm very particular about which brands we sell at Blanc D'ivoire Dubai. The brands we currently stock: Riviera Maison, Blanc D'ivoire, Intercoil and Kansai Paint all complement each other and can all be used together to transform a house into a home. We want to maintain our store ethos as a one-way shopping destination.

Comfort or style?

What's your top tip for styling a home?

My advice would be to keep all of the colours in harmony, leave breathable space and to keep it simple and natural.
