Buro 24/7 explores Toro Toro's new menu
Created by celebrity chef Richard Sandoval
Packed to the rafters with succulent meats, experimental seafood dishes and an eclectic array of small, tapas-inspired plates, Toro Toro's new à la carte menu oozes Latin flair, echoing the restaurant's stylish, smouldering interior.
Taking the taste-buds on a tour from the snow-tipped mountains of Peru, to the sweltering sands of Copacabana beach, celebrity chef Richard Sandoval's new menu offers dishes to suit any palate; paying homage to the continent's trademark hospitality and warmth.
The fresh, vibrant 'Sea Bass Tartare', infused with mango, coconut and lime, or the sautéed scallops drizzled with lomo saltado and potato huancaina sauce, are just two of the plates sure to satisfy fish-lovers, while dishes from the Churrasco and Grill should get any carnivore worth their salt chomping at the bit. We recommend the delicious 'Parrillada Mixta' meat-skewer; enough for two, this feast boasts melt-in-the-mouth Wagyu steak, tender marinated chicken and tasty barbequed lamb-chops.
For die-hard fans of Latin American food, the menu also offers a selection of traditional dishes, including freshly-baked beef tenderloin empanadas stuffed with oyster sauce, tomato, onion and guacamole and 'Salmon Tiradito', a time-honoured Peruvian creation with soy and oyster sauce, avocado cream, leche de tigre and spicy jalapeno chili.
No matter how full, we defy anyone to turn-down the chance to sample one of Toro Toro's delectable deserts. Try the 'Deconstructed Berry Pie', which is served with toasted, fluffy meringue, bittersweet mixed berries and zesty lemon and lime cream-custard, or the 'Chocolate Fondant Cake', which marries rich chocolate and blood orange with scrumptious results.
We could go on, but you get the picture. The menu is delicious, and the brilliant, attentive service is just the icing on the cake. Here's what the main-man himself, chef Richard Sandoval, had to say:
"The new Toro Toro a la carte menu is simply bursting with traditional Latin American flavours, from old favourites to an array of new exotic dishes. The concept is all about bringing family and friends together to enjoy great food and share in the discovery of delicious Pan Latin cuisine."
