The spotlight is set to fall on Dubai once again as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announces the launch of a new waterfront project: Dubai Harbour. Inspired by the maritime heritage, the new luxury destination at Mina Seyahi will feature the region's largest marina, a 3.5 million square foot shopping haven, a dedicated events space, hotels as well as restaurants and cafes. Despite the highlights, the main attraction will be the Dubai Lighthouse, an architectural masterpiece that will house both a luxury hotel and a 360-degree observation deck.
"We are happy that this new project, which represents a unique and innovative new addition to the region's tourism landscape, opens up a range of new opportunities to investors," said HH Sheikh Mohammed. "Dubai Harbour creates a venue for new investments that support our vision for this important sector and promises to further accelerate the expansion of the tourism industry in the UAE, which is already growing rapidly. I am confident that the project will have a highly positive impact on our entire region's tourism sector. We are keen to encourage new projects and promote investments that will contribute to bringing to the region more tourists interested in experiencing this part of the world."
While no date has been set, Dubai Harbour is expected to be completed four years after breaking ground. Watch this space! Meanwhile, discover the top five hotels to visit in 2017.
