Luxury label Loewe has officially announced the 26 finalists for the 2017 edition of the Loewe Craft Prize. Designed to honour craftsmanship from all facets of the design industry, the winning entry – from nearly 4000 submissions worldwide – will be chosen based on several criteria including form, function, method and relevance.

"Craft is the essence of Loewe," said Creative Director Jonathan Anderson. "As a house, we are about craft in the purest sense of the word. That is where our modernity lies, and it will always be relevant. So I wanted to create a platform to highlight things that are engineered by hand, by ceramicists, basket – weavers, furniture designers, jewellery makers, and other people who work silently and are often under-appreciated."
