Design Days Dubai is set to welcome the Dutch designer and Co-Founder of Moooi, Marcel Wanders as he makes his debut at the Middle Eastern event. Specialising in custom-made pieces for luxury brands, as well as creating concepts for his private clientele, Wanders will be presenting this year's opening keynote address, 'On the Crossroads Between Art and Design' as well as showcasing his collection.

Wanders, whose recent regional work is on display at the Mondrian Doha hotel, explains that his exclusive pieces reflect tradition and heritage. "With this collection, in this region specifically, I wanted to include work that celebrates humankind and highlights durability, warmth and imperfection. Handcrafted techniques and a sense of ornamentation dominate this collection and offer more surprise for both myself and those who experience it."

In addition to Wanders' highly anticipated showcase, Design Days Dubai will also mark the launch of the Pop Up Academy, an initiative created by renowned designer Esra Lemmens. "Designers organising their own courses is a natural movement in design education since 'the school' and 'design practice' don't exist anymore," explains Lemmens. "Pop Up Academy deals with these changes as, at the crossroads between art and design, the industry increasingly deals with made-to-measure concepts. Design education should reflect this, as well as the unique characteristics of each design event."

Design Days Dubai will run from March 14-18 at The Venue in Downtown Dubai. For more information, visit Design Days Dubai.
