After teasing a sneak peek on social media earlier in the week, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its latest luxury car during the Concours d'Elegance at California's Pebble Beach. Named the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, the almost six metre long electric vehicle is the result of masterfully combining contrasting design elements.

The long sloping hood and roofline reminds of the retro cars while the signature Mercedes gullwing doors provide a sharp contemporary contrast, as does the chrome strips and accents against the deep red paintwork. Inside, a cool colour palette reflects a more modern and minimalistic style while the use of the finest leather and wood create a luxurious interior that's described by Mercedes as more of a lounge. On the technical side, the 2+2 seating car has the ability to go from 0-100km/h in under four seconds and run for more than 500km on a single charge.

"Our sensational coupe, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6, represents the ultimate in contemporary luxury. It is hot and cool," said Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Daimler AG. "With its intelligent appeal and reduced, technoid look, it perfectly embodies our design philosophy of sensual purity and our pursuit of aerodynamic efficiency."
