Only Watch Auction 2017: Top 5 timepieces you need to know
Audemars Piguet, Louis Vuitton, Hublot
First held in 2005, the biennial Only Watch auction is an exclusive event where the biggest names in horology create one-of-a-kind pieces in the name of charity. The 2017 edition, to be held in Geneva, will see brands such as Audemars Piguet, Louis Vuitton and Hublot showcase their philantropic offerings, where proceeds will go to the Monaco Association against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. With dozens of coveted timepieces expected to go under the hammer, Buro 24/7 Middle East takes a look at the top five pieces that will steal the spotlight.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar watch
Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak collection welcomes the event's unique black ceramic edition where the case, bezel and bracelet were created from the fine material. Four white sub-dials feature on the face that juxtapose perfectly against the blue colour palette. As well, this timepiece is the first of its kind to boast a black ceramic caseback combined with sapphire.
Bovet Geisha edition watch
Combining craftsmanship with artistry, Bovet's Only Watch creation features the Japanese Geisha artwork intricately adorning the dial, made from Grand Feu enamel. The luminescent material ensures both legibility of time and appreciation of artisanship in low light conditions.
Big Bang Unico Sapphire Usain Bolt for Only Watch timepiece
Inspired by one of history's greatest ever athletes, Olympic champion Usain Bolt, Hublot's Only Watch offering is a 45mm Big Bang case in a green and gold colour tone as homage to Bolt's national flag of Jamaica. The sub-dial at the 9 o'clock position also features the runner's iconic Lightning Bolt salute.
Louis Vuitton's Escale Spin Time watch
This year marks Louis Vuitton's sixth participation in the charity auction and the French luxury label has created a "Black & Fire" variation of its popular Escale Spin Time watch. The unique timepiece features three vibrant shades of orange, red and yellow. The innovative Tambour Spin Time system ensures the wearer a playful way to tell the time, courtesy of 12 rotating cubes.
Tag Heuer's special Connected Modular 45 watch
The watchmaker's first connected watch will be specially offered in a box set that features the timepiece in the Only Watch colours of yellow and black. Running on Android Wear 2.0 system, the watch offers a host of dial options and customisable preferences alongside an Only Watch 7th edition — 2017, 1/1 engraving on the back to further accentuate its exclusivity.
Only Watch 2017 will be held on November 11 in Geneva. In other watch news, discover the Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon smartwatch.
