Cartier is named as the official jeweller for the all-female remake of Ocean’s 8

Big jewels headed for the big screen
We're just a few weeks away from watching the latest Ocean's Eleven spinoff in movie theatres and Cartier has just been named as having a leading role in the film...

2018 is set to be a big year for film and one of the summer’s most highly anticipated movies, Ocean’s 8and is hitting theatres in the region really soon (June 7, to be exact).

Thanks to the captivating first trailer released late last year, we know there’s a fierce all- female cast of Sandra BullockRihanna, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Helena Bonham Carter and Cate Blanchett (who led a #MeToo march at the Cannes Film Festival), and that the film is centered around the group’s attempt to pull off a jewellery heist at the Met Gala

Now, it’s been announced that French luxury fine jeweller Cartier is the exclusive jewellery partner for the film.

In the film, there’s a one-of-a-kind necklace that will sit pretty on Daphne Kluger (played by Hathaway), and according to Cartier, the necklace is a tribute to the brand’s Creative Director in the ’30s who is said to have had a “decisive hand in establishing what has become the house’s stylistic identity.”

According to WWDArnaud Carrez, Cartier’s International Marketing and Communications Director said: “As a maison, and throughout our history, we cherish our collaborations that bring visionaries together to celebrate individuality, diversity and empower bold and fearless women. Cartier is thrilled to continue its long-standing cinematic legacy. With this film, the New York Cartier Fifth Avenue mansion confirms its identity as a landmark of the city, and the Jeanne Toussaint necklace highlights Cartier’s craftsmanship in jewellery making on the silver screen.”
