What do you get when you combine the artistry of accomplished jewellery designer Nadine Kanso, known for her Bil Arabi jewellery line, with the stylish curatorial expertise of Anum Bashir, A.K.A. Desert Mannequin? The answer is a stunning new limited edition fine jewellery collection titled 'Alef/20'.

This capsule collection takes its name from the Alef, the Arabic letter 'A,' which forms the aesthetic heart of the designs, as well as highlighting the limited 20 units produced for each design. 18-karat gold, encrusted with diamonds and sapphires, forms exquisite earrings, cuffs, pendants and rings in calligraphic configurations.

The Desert Mannequin x Bil Arabi collaboration places cultural identity and individuality at the heart of the collection. The Alef signifies strength, adventure, and courage – the hallmarks of the woman that Kanso and Bashir set out to represent with their designs, who, as the designers say: "Wish to leave a mark and be different."

Nadine Kanso and Anum Bashir unite for special collection

Kanso's culturally informed designs, photography and art work naturally veer towards the aesthetic of Arabic calligraphy, which serves as a framework for her to explore the idea of contemporary modern Arab identity. This dynamic fused with Bashir's keen curatorial eye and ability to slice through the fashion chaff and zero in on the gems of style, has created an exciting new collaboration. The launch of the limited line will coincide with the launch of Art Dubai 2015 and stockists include Harvey Nichols Dubai, S*uce Rocks Dubai, Per Lei Couture Doha and LuisaViaRoma.

Those who are coveting these unique pieces should bring their A-game as we predict these gems will sell fast...
