Blue, black and white, this was the colour palette at Dior this Fall/Winter '17, which channels one of Christian Dior's periodic directions j'adore. "Among all of the colours, navy blue is the only one which can ever compete with black, it has all the same qualities," Dior once said.
Taking inspiration from the hue and combining it with the mood of historic artworks by Picasso, Cezanne and Miro, Dior's Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri didn't colour outside of the lines when she created the new season collection. Instead she chose to transport the wearer to Chevrier, a spiritual location in the North of France. While you're there expect to wear shearling coats, dresses and skirts in shining silk-like swatches, head-to-toe denim, tulle tutus, hoodies and bomber jackets. Prints were primarily reserved to add sprinkles of star dust to the silhouettes, echoing Van Gogh's Night Sky.
Accessorised with leather berets, cross-body bags with a statement strap and fishnet stockings, each look remained as feminist-cum-androgynous as the last.
