Milan Fashion Week S/S’19: Day five highlights

Arrivederci Milan!
As Milan Fashion Week comes to an end, we've rounded up the final four designers that took there collections to the runway...

A slew of noteworthy names appeared on the final day of Milan Fashion Week as Marni, Giorgio Armani, Fila and Dolce & Gabbana showcased their Spring/Summer ’19 collections. Before bidding adieu to the Italian city, we’ve rounded up the best looks from their new seasonal collections…

Marni

What you need to know: Francesco Risso may have only been running things at Marni for around two years now but he’s definitely making his mark at the Italian label. Creating a new seasonal collection that boasted colourful silhouettes that blended art, charm and elegance, the looks included a raw aesthetic that played with the concept of artists, including painters and sculptors, getting their hands dirty.

Wishlist-worthy: Forget the tiny frame sunglasses trend, Marni’s runway sunglass collection is high on our must-have list.

Giorgio Armani

What you need to know: Fresh off the back of the Emporio Armani show over the weekend, Giorgio Armani delivered another must-see collection overnight. In his new Spring/Summer ’19 range, pieces came in pastel and silver coloured satins. Super lightweight, subtle and relaxed, the elongated separates are this season’s wardrobe must-haves.

Celebrity front row: The brand’s global beauty ambassador Cate Blanchett was there, along with Patrick Schwarzenegger, Alessandra Ambrosio, Sara Sampaio, Poppy Delevingne and Sonam Kapoor.

Fila

What you need to know: Consisting of some pieces from Fila’s extensive archives, the brand’s duo-designers Antonino Ingrasciotta and Joseph Graesel brought together a cool co-ed lineup that blended sporty silhouettes with streetwear-ready ensembles. With inspirations from tennis, swimming and sailing, as well as influences from Bjorn Borg’s signature style (he was one of the brand’s most popular faces), the pieces are certain to be all over our ‘gram soon enough.

In case you didn’t know: Fila’s Spring/Summer ’19 showcase marked the brand’s first ever runway show and with its debut, came a collection that brought a whole new meaning to sports luxe.

Dolce & Gabbana

What you need to know: Dolce & Gabbana decided to redefine its house codes for Spring/Summer ’19 and delivered a collection that dove into their brand DNA. With a whopping 151 looks that strutted the runway, the collection included several signature Dolce & Gabbana elements including romantic black lace, rich floral prints, baroque fabrics, Sicilian-rich prints, fitted silhouettes and statement accessories.

Model line-up: Championing diversity, Dolce & Gabbana included a model line-up that not only consisted of the #DGMillennials, but also icons including Monica Bellucci, Eva Herzigova, Carla Bruni, Maye Musk and Ashley Graham.
