Whilst many fashion designers are showcasing their new collections for Cruise 2016Anthony Vaccarello is debuting his first ever Versus Versace collection for Autumn/Winter 15. Despite the fact that the season made its bow at the international fashion weeks some months ago, Versus Versace's new creative director said he was in no rush to compete, and needed to take his time for this important moment in his career – opting to show late, in May. So was it worth the wait?...

Vaccarello showcased 17 strong looks for his first ever Versus collection in London last night – featuring 14 women's ensembeles and 3 looks for men. All of the Versace DNA is here, but there are no crazy logos or colours, and the collection is, on the whole, surprisingly pared back. Dominated by a warm autumnal colour palette including dark red, brown, olive, and black, the line-up includes wearable basics with subtle twists – such as a LBD with a thigh-high split and asymmetric sleeve detail. The harmony between the men's looks and women's looks is also pleasing, tweed is used for a cosy, oversized jumper for women, and then later appears as a kilt and trouser combo for men.
