A tradition that began a decade ago, Vanity Fair crowns its best dressed people each year – now the concept has its own site-within-site destination

Having published the International Best Dressed List since 2004, Vanity Fair is celebrating a decade of the award with a new online home, “We tried to make it more modern and current,” said Vanity Fair Deputy Editor Aimée Bell, who worked with Digital Director Michael Hogan and his team to bring the content online.

Hogan put together archival materials, including slide shows, videos and stories, of past and present winners. “You can see all of the Vanity Fair inductees to the Hall of Fame over the past 10 years,” he said.

The best-dressed list was started by PR genius Eleanor Lambert in 1940, and has since changed ownership a few times, having been previously published by The New York Times, Time and W, Bell said, adding that the list isn't going anywhere now.

Hogan noted that the mobile-friendly site, which will be hosted within Vanity Fair’s own, is part of the magazine’s digital strategy to bring more users overall – accomplished via social media, primarily Facebook. The best-dressed site will include digital partners such as Lancôme, and is the first digital project of many more.

Hall of fame winners this year include the Duchess of CambridgeKarl Lagerfeld and Stacey Bendet. Winners in the couples category are Frédéric Fekkai and Shirin von Wulffen, Colin and Livia Firth and Lauren and Andres Santo Domingo, while winners from the 'Originals' category include the King of Bhutan, St. Vincent and Donna Tartt.

Winners in the professional category are Sophia Amoruso, Rainer Andreesen, Amy Astley, Andrew Bolton, Bianca Brandolini d’Adda, Charlotte Olympia Dellal, Karlie Kloss, Natalie Massenet, Eugene Tsai Tong and Elie Top.

For men, 2014 winners are Miguel Baez, Victor Cruz, Benedict Cumberbatch, Idris Elba, Neil Patrick Harris, Jeff Koons, Henrik Lundqvist, Eddie Redmayne, Vito Schnabeland Pharrell Williams. And last but not least, women’s best-dressed winners include Cate Blanchett, Beatrice Borromeo, the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Michelle Dockery, Audrey Gelman, Vanessa Getty, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, Lupita Nyong’o, Emmy Rossum and Emma Watson.
