Stella McCartney showed her Cruise 2016 collection at her lively annual garden party in New York, which this year took on a Cuban theme (the party not the collection) with salsa dancing and stilt walking setting a fun filled backdrop for the equally lively and fun lineup.

"I'm always inspired by the liberation of the resort collection," said McCartney. "This season it's all about life and colour and flowers. There's a joy to it." Said the designer, and we can't disagree.

The collection exuded a vibrant aesthetic, seeing bold yellow and orange dresses fashioned from abundant fabric, that flowed and floated loosely from the body. Tailoring was exemplary, seen on a fitted black suit with a colourful floral motif that the designer cited as being particularly representative of the brand's style.

Dresses with beautiful crochet and broderie anglais detail drifted more to the romantic side, and skirts formed from men's shirting were designed with knot ties around the hips, like city worthy sarongs.
