New York's upper East Side was flooded with love as the annual Save Venice Ball kicked off at the Pierre Hotel. The hotel's ballroom was bursting with red roses and romance as the Il Piacere dell'Amore, or 'The Pleasure of Love', themed gala fell into full swing. The dress code was opulently masquerade, in true Venetian style, with guests asked to wear red and black in keeping with the sultry romantic mood. Gilded heart shaped vases and decorations served as further reminders that amore was the flavour of the evening.

Guests included; Crystal Renn, Lake Bell, Karolina Kurkova, Prabal Gurung, Grace Mahary, Jack McCollough, Lazaro Hernandez and Emmy Rossum who all turned out in hues of rouge. Other stars spotted included Girls star Alison Williams, who wore gold Ralph Lauren and Hanneli Mustaparta wore a blush golden gown, with a black mask.

A highlight of the evening was the traditional prize for best masquerade mask, a hotly contested trophy, won last year by street style personality Edmundo Huerta, who seemed to be competing with himself with his pearl encrusted LED lit custom creation this year. But the winner was announced as Maxwell Osborne who wore a large panther-shaped mask.

The evening rung out as a resounding success as it was announced just before dessert that Save Venice had raised more than $1 million. A milestone funding moment for the ball. Guests applauded in celebrations and took their excitement out on the dance floor well into the small hours.
