The UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned the latest Saint Laurent ad campaign under Hedi Slimane's creative direction, which stars slender model Kiki Willems (pictured above). According to ASA a single complaint was made that the image from Saint Laurent's Spring 2015 campaign was irresponsible, because the model pictured "appeared unhealthily underweight."

The ad, which ran in British Elle magazine, shows model Kiki Willems laying on the floor, hands above her head, wearing an all-black Saint Laurent look. The fashion house's creative director – Hedi Slimane – took the photograph himself.

ASA said that Willems' pose, together with the photograph's lighting, meant her "rib cage was visible and appeared prominent," and that "her thighs and knees appeared a similar width, which looked very thin."

"We therefore considered that the model appeared unhealthily underweight in the image and concluded that the ad was irresponsible," the ASA said.

Saint Laurent said that it did not agree with ASA's decision, but declined to make an official statement. What do you think? Is this image a little too far? Answers in the comment box below...
