This month, renowned Italian fashion houses are giving back to the community and helping restore pieces of their homeland, Italy.
Bulgari is helping restore the Spanish Steps in Rome while Salvatore Ferregamo funds the Uffizi Gallery's revamp in Florence, now Prada seems to be following in their footsteps by inking a new deal for a new road in the region of Tuscany.
The new roadway will link the town of Terranuova Bracciolini, where Prada manufactures many of its products, with the A1 motorway. The region of Tuscany will be in charge of the bureaucratic details, while Prada will finance the project, which is set to be finished by 2017.
Prada declined to comment on the new deal, but according to a statement released by the region of Tuscany, in the next few years, the fashion company will invest $1.2 billion to boost its production unit in the region. In the last five years, the Italian label has already spent more than $1.37 billlion, creating 150 new jobs in the area.
