British-born designer Paul Smith, has announced that he will be fusing his women's and men's lines into two lines, the main brand and a diffusion line — PS by Paul Smith.  Due to the recent changes within the fashion industry, brands have taken the decision to move forward with brand blending making things alot more simple and understandable for their customers.

"I think the world has gone mad. There's this absolute horrendous disease of greed and over-expansion and unnecessary, massive over-supply of product. We're completely aware of what we're doing. It's not scary, it's just a readjustment. There must be so many brands out there that are just locked into this formula that they can't get out of and I just said, 'We're stopping that. We're not doing that anymore'," explained Smith.

Paul Smith will now consist of one main line of suits, dresses and luxury cashmere and a smaller diffusion line, PS by Paul Smith, that will be dedicated to a more casual aesthetic of his classic polos, jeans, T-shirts and jumpers. Each line will have four store drops per year but they'll continue to show the collections separately in Paris and London.

Paul Smith is the latest designer to make the change, following on from Burberry's decision to blend fashion shows, which was announced last week.
