After the surprise departure of Frida Giannini and Patrizio di Marco last week, the rumour mill has been turning as to who will be the Italian duo's replacement. Now, it has been reported by Page Six that Saint Laurent's Hedi Slimane is being considered for the position as creative director.

Although many sources seem to point to Riccardo Tisci or Joseph Alutzarra as Gucci's next head honcho, Parisian rock 'n' roller Slimane would also be a highly eligible contender. Since he started at the French fashion house two years ago, Slimane has helped sales grow at Saint Laurent, despite the criticism for his designs and rebranding of YSL – while Gucci has been on the decline in sales – so stay tuned for more news on the big change.
