Hedi Slimane designs new Celine boutique in The Dubai Mall
It's like shopping in an art gallery...
Ever since Hedi Slimane joined the Celine maison in 2018, the Creative Director has been revolutionising the legendary house in ways we couldn't think of (perhaps because we were too attached to Phoebe Philo). However, these changes officially marked an end to the era as Slimane first ditched the accented logo, updated the brand's e-commerce platform and continuously changed the direction of designs.
And the recent opening of a slew of Celine flagship stores across the globe proves case in point.
Following the design of the LVMH-owned newest boutiques in Madison Avenue in New York, Omotesando in Japan and the newly renovated stores in Paris Rue Francois 1er and Rue de Grenelle, Celine officially opened a new boutique in The Dubai Mall's Fashion Avenue.
The opening of this new boutique is part of the global new architectural concept designed by the designer himself – where he creatively juxtaposes natural materials with balanced and expansive sculptural interiors.
We could kind of see where the brand is aesthetically headed as we've literally entered Slimane's vision for Celine shoppers. And what is that vision exactly? Slimane has created a minimalist yet brutalist space that proves more to be an art gallery rather than high-end flagship store.
Also, Slimane has added specially designed furniture to each of the boutiques. Each site has a specific piece of artwork that compliments the overall concept of the new boutique, and the list of artists' feature contemporary names including James Balmforth, Jose Davila, Elaine Cameron Weir and Oscar Tuazon.
Celine's new store is now open and is located on the Ground floor of Fashion Avenue, in The Dubai Mall.
