The mixed blue and pink gel lenses of the lighting rig, set the scene for the Giorgio Armani Privé Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 15 presentation in Paris tonight, flooding the runway with the 'shocking' jewelled hues that would dominate the lineup. Instantly two shocking pink jackets, one with a ruffled peplum and another in a more sleek cut, worn with black velvet trousers, opened the show. A precession of bright and bold designs followed in vibrant blue, purple and green.

With a concentration on evening-wear, Armani opted to embrace not just bold colour but bold embellishment. There was an abundance of ruffles and feathers on jackets and dresses. And where these exuberant three-dimensional fabrics weren't used, shining lamé and jacquards took over the duties of adding to the theatre of design.
