Everlane’s newest venture sees eco-friendly sneakers

Stepping up sustainability
Everlane continue to be a beacon of hope for sustainability in fashion. And their newest launch only highlights that further...

The fashion industry has been shifting its focus to sustainability more and more in recent years and American brand Everlane has been at the forefront of innovation in that time.

Towards the end of last year the digital-first apparel retailer launched a collection made with recycled plastic water bottles

And now, they’re launching a new eco-friendly sneaker label, Tread. According to The Fashion Network, the brand is the San Francisco-based retailer’s first new private label and will launch with the Trainer, a gender-neutral sneaker which channels a minimalistic retro aesthetic and will sell for Dhs360 (USD$98).

“A new kind of sneaker brand. On the path to zero impact,” so says the brand’s landing page on Everlane’s e-commerce platform. “The mission: Make the world’s lowest-impact sneakers. Make them to last. Make them carbon neutral. And never stop pushing to make them better.”

The launch of Tread is also part of Everlane’s wider commitment to sustainability, which includes a pledge to eliminate all virgin plastic from its supply chain by 2021.

For now though, head to their e-commerce platform and sign up for the lauch of Tread – which is set for 25 April.
