Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have proudly revealed themselves, much like all good Italian men, as 'mummy's boys,' with their Autumn/Winter 15 presentation entitled – Viva la Mamma. In keeping with the collection, which has been dedicated to the designer's mothers and mothers everywhere. Motherhood was joyously celebrated on the Dolce & Gabbana runway, this Milan Fashion Week.

Lyrics to Edoardo Bennato's pop-song Viva la Mamma were translated and printed out for the show's audience with lines like; "Hurray for the women with their feet on the ground." While The Spice Girls' Mama played out as the soundtrack. Models strode down the runway with babies on hips, todlers in arms and even a heavily pregnant Bianca Balti modelled a simple blush shift dress to the delight of the crowd.

With all of these production touches aside, you don't need to be flooded with cues to understand the motivation behind the collection, the clothes speak for themselves. With a single red rose motif dominating the theme; we saw it applied with sequins to a chic mid-length white dress, accompanied by the words 'I love you mamma' applied in gold sequins. The rose was the symbol of adoration and it appeared in different finishes throughout the lineup.

Blush, white and forest green balanced the palette that was wighted with elegant black at the other end of the colour chart, in chic Sicilian lace. With a collection this exquisite as a tribute, there can be no doubt that  Dolce & Gabbana speak from the heart when they say "viva la mamma."
