"Buy less, choose well, make it last" — Vivienne Westwood to forgo fashion show in favour of a digital presentation
Taking a stand
Fashion Month is set to look very different next season following a slew of changes from designers, as well as official bodies like the CFDA. With schedule extensions and co-ed show announcements swiftly becoming the norm, the way new season collections will be presented is no longer uniform.
Vivienne Westwood is the latest name to announce changes to her show format. The designer, on whom a documentary is currently in the works, has revealed she will not stage a physical show for A/W18 but instead host a digital presentation.
The presentation will be streamed during London Men's Fashion Week on January 8, 2018.
Of the change, Westwood told WWD, "We're looking forward to showing you our winter collection, which instead of a catwalk, we will present through the form of film and imagery, so you can get a good look at it and love it as much as we do." The decision further demonstrates her commitment to being green, with the designer highlighting her motto: "Buy less, choose well, make it last."
