Balmain is returning to the couture schedule after 16 years

Announced by Olivier Rousteing today
Been missing Balmain on the couture schedule? Not to worry, as the French brand is returning next year...

Couture Week is a mere 10 weeks away from beginning and we’re already counting down the days until we see the latest gorgeous confections from some of the world’s biggest brands. Even more so now with one brand confirming its return to the schedule today.

WWD reports that Balmain will take part in the bi-annual event in January — 16 years since the brand was last seen on the schedule when under the creative direction of the late Oscar de la Renta.

Speaking at the WWD CEO summit, Olivier Rousteing explained he was “looking to bring back the brand’s Parisian DNA.” Couture is the first step in doing that, followed by beauty, fragrance and accessories.

Rousteing didn’t share any further details as to what we can expect from the collection but if the brand’s RTW aesthetic is anything to go by, we’re sure it’s going to be showstopping.

Until then, find out which high street fashion chain is coming to our shores next year
