There are whispers in Paris that the Kering-owned Balenciaga could be about to announce a change in creative leadership, and that Alexander Wang could be existing his role as creative director...

Wang joined Balenciaga at the end of 2012 succeeding Nicolas Ghesquière, who left the French fashion house after an incredible 15-year tenure and joined Louis Vuitton.

A new report by WWD states that Wang is thought to still be under contract and will present the new Balenciaga collection for Spring/Summer 16 at Paris Fashion Week (PFW) at the end of September this year. According to WWD: a "spokeswomen for Kering and Wang would only say there are discussions between the designer and Balenciaga regarding the renewal of the contract."

At present it is uncertain whether Wang and Balenciaga will successfully renew their contract, but the brand's chief executive officer Isabelle Guichot and the iconic designer recently shared their future plans for growth including menswear and knitwear. After a successful 2014 of double-digit gains, Guichot said that the growth came from "almost all categories, from retail and a very healthy wholesale business."

According to WWD however, some sources say Wang could be torn between his own successful namesake brand and the responsibilities at Balenciaga, as it is said that the 31-year-old Californian-born designer is keen to find an investor for his privately held eponymous fashion house.
