Paris Fashion Week Menswear AW15: Givenchy

Ricardo Tisci's magic carpet ride

The devil seemed to be in the details for Ricardo Tisci's new menswear (and a few womenswear) offerings this season, as the Givenchy designer unveiled a red and black collection filled with sequins, exquisite tailoring and bold prints...

With show notes referring to Ricardo Tisci's "darkest obsessions," Givenchy's Autumn/Winter 15 presentation featured a wicked undertone – more beautiful then frightening – with the scene boasting a catwalk of red glitter and models wearing Pat McGrath-created gothic makeup looks (based on African masks).

The collection itself was chic and tailored, there were less hoodies and baggy trousers – a repeated style seen this week at Paris' men's shows – and more suiting and embellishment.

Tisci who is a collector of mystical items and religious artifacts, splashed diluted skull decorations and a bold magnified Moroccan carpet motif across a myriad of items, including jackets for men and dresses for women. He also sprinkled and sometimes drowned pieces in sequins – take the blazer which had its shoulders covered in black sequins that looked like melting tar.

Other standout ensembles included leather outerwear with dangling raccoon tails, denim jackets with brown suede collars and Tisci’s trademark of men wearing skirts over their tapered trousers – giving us a sinfully sweet set of Givenchy looks.
