Petter Copping now has two collections under his belt as the creative director of Oscar de la Renta. After taking the helm earlier than expected due to the early passing of the man who founded the house, Copping was thrown into the deep end, and had to set about designing Spring/Summer 15 without the leisurely handover that had been planned. However, knowing that Oscar de la Renta hand selected him to be his successor demonstrated his "trust" and "confidence" in him to take on the house, which Copping says remains a huge "comfort" to him.

"Oscar himself was a big personality... He was a larger than life character. He was an inspiration, beyond fashion I think there are a lot of things that we would have shared in common," says Copping who admits that whilst he enjoys the social element of the job, meeting customers at trunks shows, and store events, and some of the more high visibility demands of the new job, such as red carpet appearances, may take more time to adapt to. "But at the same time I am who I am. So I'm going to find my own way to design there and project my own personality...What I have to look at now is how [the house] can evolve and be broadened. I don't' want to alienate the existing clients. A lot of women are very attached to the house...  All of that is very important to me."
