Olivier Rousteing's Pre-Fall '18 collection for Balmain is finally here
From dressing the Kardashian clan to creating costumes for Opéra De Paris and collaborating with Victoria's Secret this year, it's not hard to see why all eyes are always on Balmain. The man at the helm of the brand, Olivier Rousteing — who was spotted hanging out with Dubai's Mohammed Sultan Al Habtoor — has just released a Pre-Fall '18 collection that embodies all the elements of the brand we have come to know and love.
With a focus on cool staples that are quintessential to creating the 'Balmain Army', Rousteing plays with deconstruction, structuralism and layering. While looking at his hometown for inspiration, a tribute to the French spirit was echoed through the use of metallics, sequins, embellishments, fringing, leather and animal prints.
Creating a collection that Rousteing described as "timeless", the selection features structured and padded army jackets, cropped silhouettes, bodycon dresses, tweed knits and T-shirts. "Trends come and go, but iconic pieces are forever," explained the designer. "Right now, I'm more into the idea of having a timeless collection — pieces you could see in a museum in 50 years and say, that's Balmain."
