Salvatore Ferragamo have embarked on a new creative direction with handbag designer Sara Battaglia. The Italian, who is best known for her eponymous creations has collaborated with the luxury brand to create an exclusive collection of handbags inspired by Salvatore Ferragamo's Rainbow wedge, which was originally designed for Judy Garland.

Salvatore Ferragamo's Creative Director, Massimiliano Giornetti spoke about the handbags saying: "While collaborating with Sara, I soon discovered that her commitment to the finest craftmanship, coupled with her restless desire to conjure new colour and material combinations makes her a true kindred spirit, to both myself and the House of Salvatore Ferragamo. By marrying the essence of the Rainbow Wedge with the tassel design features that are becoming Sara's own signature, we have been able to meld both brands to create something new and modern, in true collaboration."

"It is an honour for me to collaborate with Salvatore Ferragamo," continued Battaglia, who crafted her first handbag at the age of six. "A brand whose unique mix of history, innovation, irony, style and unparalleled class provided me with the perfect chance to twist the iconic Rainbow Wedge into something new."
