After Her Highness-to-be Meghan Markle carried a handbag by Edinburgh-based label Strathberry on her first royal engagement, the world went crazy trying to get their hands on the bag and it sold out within 11 minutes of being identified.

Strathberry reported a 5,000 per cent increase in traffic as a result and many of the other colours in the Midi style also promptly disappeared. As a result, the brand launched a pre-order for the bag's second round of production and the 400 totes sold out within 24 hours meaning a third round had to be ordered.

Those handbags aren't expected to reach the site until February 2018 however if you simply can't wait and wish to have a piece from the original production batch then there's hope yet. Strathberry has announced that it will auction off the last piece online with proceeds going towards the Terrence Higgins Trust, the same charity that Meghan and Prince Harry were visiting on the day she wore the bag.

The auction went live late last night and will run until 12pm midnight (GMT+4) Sunday December 17. To bid, head to the Strathberry website. In the meantime, discover five cool new handbag brands that are certain to up your arm candy game.
