Seen on New Year's Eve when Dubai hosted a laser light show that earned the city a Guinness World Record, the Year of Zayed has already seen the launch of the UAE Cultural Development Fund (to celebrate the unique cultural scene of the UAE) and will be home to a permanent tribute that will be built to honour the late founder of the UAE.
Now, news has emerged overnight that a new initiative, titled Zayed, The Inspirer, has been launched to serve as a platform for people to share their inspirational stories with the world.
Announcing the news at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, explained that the new project "will serve as a source of inspiration for all humanity with the aim of driving success and creativity".
During his talk at the summit, Sheikh Said continued: "The founder of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, is a leader who inspired leaders, officials and the community, and a unique example of overcoming difficulties. He was and still is an example to be followed by all who want to realise their ambitions and turn their dreams into reality, as well as a man of far-sighted visions, and the sands of the desert were not an obstacle to achieving his goals."
If you've got any inspiring or motivational stories to share, you can post your stories on Zayedtheinspirer.ae. Available in both English and Arabic, the website currently holds the stories behind how local companies including Souq.com and Careem have boomed over the years.
