A elongated, wheel-shaped building will soon be spotted along the already impressive Dubai skyline, as Sheikh Mohammed unveils plans for the 'Museum of the Future'.

Taking to Twitter, the social media loving Dubai ruler said: “Today we have launched Museum of the Future, featuring innovation labs and a permanent exhibit for future inventions.” The new project will house the world’s latest and greatest inventions, and act as a cornerstone to the emirate's focus on innovation.

UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum added: "Museum of the Future is [an] integrated environment empowering creative minds to test, fund and market ideas for futuristic prototypes & services.... [The] museum will offer advanced courses and specialised workshops, a destination for the best and brightest inventors and entrepreneurs... [The] Museum of the Future is a first step of many to come, marking the beginning of great achievements."

The groundbreaking concept will host innovation labs, which will showcase health, education, smart cities, energy and transport developments, as well as a permanent section for the globe's greatest inventions.

A new video shows that the architecturally impressive building will likely be located close to Jumeirah's Emirates Towers and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

Last month, Sheikh Mohammed opened the Museum of Future Government Services at the Government Summit.
