Serena Williams hosted Meghan Markle's baby shower in New York
Her last day in the city
Well, Meghan Markle had a pretty eventful trip to New York over the last five days. She went out to the city for some girly TLC before her soon-to-be newborn enters the picture. Between outings to the Met Breuer museum, Ladurée in Soho for macarons and tea and Bonpoint for a spot of baby clothes shopping, the Duchess of Sussex took full advantage of her time in NYC.
And on her last day, BFF and tennis champ Serena Williams organised a very special baby shower for Markle in the penthouse suit of the five-star Mark Hotel.
A royal insider told the press that, "Serena made sure all the little things she liked were there: her favourite foods, flowers and music. Everything was so thoughtful and tastefully done."
Apparently Williams decorated the Dhs275,437 ($75,000) a night penthouse with beautiful spring blooms in shades of pink, yellow and pale green. As well as some of Markle's closest personal friends, there were some famous names in attendance too. They included: Amal Clooney, CBS anchor Gayle King, Meghan's Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.
The baby shower was a chilled affair, with no baby games or gender reveal, just good friends, a flower arrangment activity, jazz music and sophisticated food – served up by Michelin-starred celebrity chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
Now that's a way to wrap up a trip in NYC.
Next up for the Duchess is her trip to Morocco this weekend with Prince Harry. We're sure she'll be sporting some sunny wears there...cannot.wait.
