Olafur Eliasson, the Danish-Icelandic artist, has officially opened his highly anticipated – Cirkelbroen bridge – installation in Copenhagen. The beautiful design, serves a public community function, allowing the public to cross the city's Christianshavn canal. Eliasson explains that the thinking behind his design "provides proximity to the water and encourages users to slow down a little and take a break." Another example of art bringing people closer together.

Aesthetically, the pillars resemble ship masts in a testimony to Copenhagen's nautical heritage. The underfoot part of the design is composed of five circular platforms with intricate red metal grid work surrounding the barriers of each compartment and thick wire cabling. A beautiful addition to a beautiful city.
