Kanye West will put down his fashion designer hat this summer, as he prepares to headline Glastonbury 2015. The rapper is confirmed as the headlining act for Saturday, and will perform a set at the festival's famous Pyramid Stage. West will follow the Foo Fighters, who will headline the same stage the day before on the Friday.

The news was broke late last night by Emily Eavis, daughter of Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, who tweeted: "We are thrilled to let you know that we have the one and only Kanye West headlining Saturday night on the Pyramid Stage."

West also took to his Twitter handle to share that he is "excited" to be headline Glastonbury 2015.

So far the reaction from fans has been divided. Some are excited to see West, others feel it is an odd choice. It's a similar situation to when Jay Z was booked to headline in 2008, at the time the former Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher famously spoke out, saying: "I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong." Jay Z reacted by opening his set with an Oasis cover – Wonderwall, and the crowd went wild.

West is at the centre of media controversy again this week, after he shared some compromising pictures of his wife Kim Kardashian-West on his Twitter feed. The rapper-turned-fashion-designer is also said to be starring in the upcoming Zoolander 2 film, and has apparently also requested a cameo part for his wife and the mother of his daughter, North West.

Glastonbury 2015 will take place on June 24–28 at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset in the UK
