ICYMI: Authentic Fyre Festival merchandise is about to go up for auction
History in the making
If you have a Netflix account, chances are that you've watched the insanely captivating documentary on the epic failure of a festival that was Fyre Festival. The doco has gained a lot of attention worldwide following the hard-to-believe-it-actually-happened disaster went belly-up, leaving hundreds of ticket holders thousands and thousands of dirhams out of pocket.
Having watched the doco, you'll also know that Co-Founder Billy McFarland is currently serving a six-year jail sentence for defrauding consumers. Now, in an attempt to recoup some money to pay off his debts, McFarland has organised to auction off authentic Fyre Festival merchandise to any interested parties.
According to the United States Marshals, there is "an assortment of the 'real thing' Fyre Festival-branded t-shirts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, hats, wristbands and medallions." And there is in fact interested parties. "We know that there is tremendous interest in these items in the NY metro area in particular... Our objective always is to get the funds back to the victims as fast as we can in cases where there are victims."
There's no confirmed date for the auction as yet. Stay tuned to Buro. Middle East for more updates.
