Dior welcomed 200 women from around the globe for its 2018 Women @ Dior programme

Female empowerment at its most fashionable
Dior's female empowerment program began last year and is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of females...

Since being appointed as Artistic Director for Dior in 2016, Maria Grazia Chiuri has continuously highlighted the importance of feminism throughout her jaw-dropping collections and all-female cast campaigns.

Dior has always strived to promote women and in line with International Women’s Day last week, the French fashion maison opened the doors to its iconic 30 Avenue Montaigne address and welcomed 200 young women to take part in its Women @ Dior programme.

With students jet-setting in from all over the world, the mentorship programme aims to empower women in the workplace and raise their confidence in their own potential. The programme connects each student to mentors from the Dior maison (they are all Dior employees) who will guide them throughout the year.

The mentors and mentees first met during the two-day meet up on March 12-13 and were paired based on two main principles of Sorority (the feminine solidarity) and the Hand (the hand that extends, helps, carries and shares).

The programme brought the mentees and mentors together via two immersive visits (that are usually off-limits) to the Dior Heritage service where the precious archives are kept, and to the ready-to-wear and haute couture ateliers where they met in the boardroom with the House’s executives who shared their journeys.

Those chosen to participate in the programme will continue to receive mentoring from the house of Dior for the year ahead.
