This year's BAFTA Television Award nominations have been announced and it is a dramatic pack leading the charge; Happy Valley, Marvellous, The Missing and Line of Duty all lead with three nominations each. Proving that this year its all about the police force.

James Nesbit gets a nod for 'Best Leading Man' for his portrayal of the obsessed father of a missing son in Missing, which has had audiences gripped as the show runs into its second successful series. He is up against the formidable Benedict Cumberbatch whose Sherlock series is still delighting audiences with its stylised approach to the famous detective. Cumberbatch missed out at the BAFT film awards earlier this year for 'Best Leading Man' nomination which went to Eddie Redmayne. Critics favourite could be Toby Jones, for his heart warming portrayal Neil Baldwin in Marvellous.

Sharing her category with Sheridan Smith who stared in the bio-series about the much loved red-headed singer and personality from Liverpool, Cilla Black, in Cilla. Olivia Coleman receives her fourth BAFTA nomination in as many years, for 'Best Female Performance in a Comedy Series', for her portrayal of the long suffering wife of an inner city London parish vicar, opposite Tom Hollander (who also created the show) and is also up for a 'Best Male Performance in A Comedy'.
