The London School of Economics and Political Science has announced that actress Angelina Jolie will be one of its new Visiting Professors in Practice. The Oscar winner will be offering tutelage to students enrolled in the MSc in Women, Peace and Security degree. The one-year course will focus on women's issues from equality to militarisation.

Jolie's firsthand experience with these world issues as part of her role as an UNHCR Special Envoy will allow her to offer critical inputs as she participates in lectures, workshops and other public duties. "I am very encouraged by the creation of this master's programme," said Jolie. "I hope other academic institutions will follow this example, as it is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women's rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict. I am looking forward to teaching and to learning from the students as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations," she continued.

Jolie will be joined by Jane Connors, Lord Hague and Madeleine Rees as the Visiting Professors in Practice for the new masters course.
