Rapper 50 Cent (real name Curtis James Jackson) has filed for bankruptcy protection in the US State of Connecticut, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. Once living by the maxim 'get rich or die tryin' which was also the name of his first major studio album, and his 2005 biopic, it looks like the hip-hop star is back to square one. 

According to reports, the move was instigated by a lawsuit filed against him, regarding a  famous rap battle with infamous rival Rick Ross. Ross' ex-girlfriend is filing for $5 million in damages following issues regarding defamation of her character. Lawyers speculate that in filing, Jackson will be able to protect his remaining assets and restructure them, so that they can be protected from the suit. But how much he actually has left after living the superstar high-life and amassing debts against his dwindling assets will only be revealed later on in proceedings…
