New York-based poet and hip-hop artist Mona Haydar has just released a music video for her debut single "Hijabi". The video, shot while Haydar was eight months pregnant, sees the Syrian-American and her crew rapping about the stereotypes associated with the Muslim headscarf and how that misconception must change.

"Make a feminist planet, women haters get banished, covered up or not don't ever take us for granted," sings Haydar, after rapping: "All around the world, love women every shading, power run deep, so even if you hate it, I still wrap my hijab." Listen to the music video above now, then discover the recently launched Nike Pro hijab.

Another Middle Eastern influencer who has added to the international discussion on women in the region is Sheikha Hend Al Qassemi in an exclusive interview with Buro 24/7, following the launch of her novel The Black Book of Arabia.
